Why Was I Created This Way? New Children’s Book by Young Author/Artist

BOISE, ID – What am I supposed to do with my life? What was I created for? These fundamental questions are easy to ask, but hard to understand and answer. Mercy McCulloch Hasselblad, a local author and artist, has formed a children’s book that asks, and answers, these questions in a beautiful story book format.

The story is about a curious clay boy who has just been created by the Artist. One day, he goes exploring and finds a beautiful stained glass window. He is amazed by it. But it also makes him wonder: why isn’t the Artist making him as beautiful as the stained glass window? He refuses to cooperate until the Artist explains himself.

Based on the Biblical story of the Potter and the clay, this story will help children and even young adults see that they were created with a purpose. It will also encourage them to trust their Maker to form them into the people He created them to be. “Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8)

Mercy McCulloch Hasselblad is a young missionary currently working overseas with her husband. The Artist has been a long-term project she started in high school when she was figuring out her career path. Proceeds from the book will go towards supporting them on the mission field and the next book. The book is available on Amazon Kindle now and will be released in hardcover format in May, 2015.
